As a social media manager working specifically with pet businesses, I understand the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest changes in social media platforms. Facebook recently introduced an upgrade called “The New Pages Experience” to make managing your professional presence on the platform easier. This update will affect all users, including our pet industry community, so let’s explore what this change means for you and your pet business.
First things first, transitioning from your classic Facebook Page to the new Pages experience is seamless. All your Page content, from posts, photos, videos, stories to groups administered by your Page, will automatically move to your new Page. Your Page likes, followers, and even that coveted blue verification tick will also be transferred.
So, what's new in the Pages experience?
Redesigned Page Layout: The updated layout features more intuitive navigation, making it easier to find what you need.
Distinct Pages and Profiles: You can now easily switch between your public-facing Page and your individual profile, enabling better management of your professional and personal Facebook presence.
Improved Interactions and Custom Feed: Seamlessly interact with other public figures, brands, and followers. Tailor your new Page’s Feed to feature topics relevant to your business by following other Pages and profiles.
Actionable Insights and Notifications: Stay informed with more relevant notifications and insights that can help you understand your audience better.
Updated Management Tools: Assign Facebook access or task access to manage your Page more efficiently.
With Facebook access, you can manage settings, permissions, content, messages, community activity, ads, insights, Instagram account linking, monetisation, advertising, and page management through Meta platform tools. Task access, on the other hand, enables specific features management like ads, insights, or content.
Will anything change?
You may wonder if you’ll lose access to any features or tools from your classic Page. While you will still have access to most of the features, there will be some changes. For instance, Page likes will be replaced by follows, classic Page roles will be replaced with Facebook access or task access, and scheduling posts will now be done via Meta Business Suite. Also, managing your new Page from mobile web browsers will not be available – you can do this through the Facebook mobile app.
For pet business owners, the new Facebook Pages experience is an opportunity to better connect with your community, streamline your social media management, and potentially grow your audience. However, changes like these often come with a learning curve.
